Ho Chi Minh City set up Digital Transformation Consulting and Support Center

The wave of the fourth Industrial Revolution, happening at a ferocious pace, accelerates the innovation process and the application of science technology into all aspects of the economy. The digital economy which has become an essential economic component contributes a significant rate with an increasing trend to GDP. Digital transformation (DX) is a crucial factor for keeping pace with ever-developing technology in the era of industry 4.0.

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is the first locality in the country to announce the Digital Transformation Program approved by Decision No. 2393/QD-UBND dated July 3, 2020, followed by the Implementation Plan of the Program "Digital Transformation of Ho Chi Minh City in 2021" issued by the HCMC People's Committee on March 10, 2021.

HCMC needs lots of methods and policies to achieve the DX goals. Especially, HCMC leaders must prioritize the establishment of professional center models to boost digital transformation in key areas. In the first phase, HCMC People’s Committee assigned Departments of Information and Communications and Department of Science and Technology to collaborate with Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) in establishing Digital Transformation Consulting and Support Center (DXCenter) in the city’s downtown. DXCenter initiative aimed at serving the city's digital transformation process and small & medium-scaled enterprises (SMEs). It will also link various components of the digital economy to support digital adoption and efforts to boost digital transformation.

Essential functions of DXCenter:

  • Leveraging the buyer-supplier collaboration, transferring technologies and innovations, carrying out research into digital products, and linking various components of the digital economy.
  • Raising the awareness of the public and businesses about the advantages of digital transformation through DX events, training programs, DX-relating programs.
  • Promoting the innovation eco-system for start-ups, and helping individuals, businesses research and develop digital products.
  • Implementing the plan of cooperating with prominent international partners for digital transformation and seeking funds to support digital transformation.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of digital products and supporting research and development of digital products and solutions.

In the upcoming time, DXCenter will deploy specific activities such as attracting a team of senior consultants in various fields; connecting the leading technological businesses, especially with reputable IT associations. Moreover, it also coordinates with the media to develop communication topics to increase awareness about digital transformation for individuals and enterprises in HCMC and implements communication activities, events, training courses, and consulting programs. 

Additionally, DXCenter will become a Common House of digital transformation, including thematic spaces on the digital economy, digital infrastructure, digital government, digital society; exhibition space in which products for digital transformation in the digital economy, society, government, and infrastructure displayed. There are supposedly 10 major fields divided into 50 sub-categories. Data about products and solutions will also be digitized on the DX-eHub platform, which has necessary functions like reviewing and rating, running demos for those displays to help customers easily search for products. Successful case studies in digital transformation are also featured on this platform.
