QTSC and Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement to promote STEM education

On the morning of October 2nd 2020, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Department of Education and Training, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) coordinated with STEM Education Company to hold a seminar entitled "STEM Education – From Class to Real-Life." The event attracted more than 350 participants, including representatives of Department of Education and Training, Department of Science and Technology, and leaders from departments of education of 24 districts, together with principals of secondary and high schools in HCMC.

At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu – Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training, said that the Department had issued Instruction No. 2998/GDDT-GDTrH to implement the policy of deploying STEM education for the school year 2017 – 2018. "Schools need to focus on training and supporting teachers approach to the modern ways of teaching. Besides, the Department of Education and Traning also encourage experimental activities based on teaching-oriented STEM education by issuing policies regarding STEM," he added.

According to Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long – CEO of QTSC, through STEM, students developed much more vital skills, including problem-solving, creativity, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, etc. Therefore, QTSC organized various activities that helped young people advance skills, such as science and technology creativity contest, talent incubation, and STEAMZONE training center.

On this occasion, QTSC and HCMC Department of Education and Training signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on developing STEM education model in HCMC with the following details:

- Organizing research activities with an aim to develop students' 4C skills, including Creativity; Critical thinking; Collaboration; and Communication, which are essential in the 21st century.

- Collaborating with STEAMZone in training students and enriching educators' skills about creative experience activities.

- Deploying STEM education to improve teaching quality and evaluation method in the schools in HCMC.

- Researching and applying Industry 4.0 solutions (Bigdata, AI, IoT, Robotics,…) of enterprises operating in QTSC into STEM curriculum and school's educational programs.
