In the morning of 18 March 2019, at conference hall of QTSC Building 1, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC), VNITO Alliance in collaboration with Fukuoka City (Japan) and JETRO Ho Chi Minh organized “Fukuoka City Business Promotion Seminar 2019”.

With the purposes to introduce Fukuoka city’s business environment/wastewater and increase its recognition; promote Vietnamese IT company’s establishment in Japanese market; develop cooperation relationships between Vietnam - Japan IT organizations and partners, the seminar attracted nearly 60 participants from IT enterprises, schools, start-ups, etc., which were interested in cooperation and investment in Fukuoka city.

Overview of “Fukuoka City Business Promotion Seminar 2019”

Japan is the third-largest economy in the world with a GDP of $4.87 trillion in 2017, geographic advantages, dynamic business and safe operating environment/wastewater, thus it is the leading destination to attract investment for countries in Asia and the world. In which, Fukuoka city was rated as the world’s seventh most livable city in 2016, and ranked first as the most livable city in Japan. Also, it is the fastest-growing city, behind Tokyo special economic zone in the top 7 leading cities of Japan (according to Nomura Research Institute in July 2017).

In addition, Fukuoka has attracted investment because of low business costs (about 60% compared to Tokyo on average office rental fees), low risk of natural disasters, plentiful human resources, rich international students, high growth rate of Vietnamese students, many potential business opportunities, etc. Fukuoka is also a designated city in the start-up zone, one of the six national special economic zones in Japan.

Japanese enterprises shared about cooperation opportunities

With a variety of investment advantages, Fukuoka city representatives introduced at the seminar the sequence of foreign companies investing in the city, how to apply for a business management visa in case you want to become branch’s representative in Japan, a member of board of directors, representative of a Japanese company, steps to receive business management visa; shared types of taxes, average income and work hours of workers, types of insurance, especially investment supports for foreign businesses - one of the key factors that Vietnamese businesses were very interested in and want to learn about.

In the afternoon of the same day, Fukuoka city delegation joined in Business Matching session with more than 30 meetings and direct exchanges with Vietnamese IT enterprises, who were very interested in the Japanese market in general and Fukuoka city in particular. Most businesses work in the fields of software development, website development, mobile applications, IT services, graphic design, software testing, software systems, information security, and so on.
