QTSC collaborate to build and publish the handbook “IT Career Handbook”

Dear Sirs/ Madams,

Manpower is always a "headache", a "bottleneck" issue of the IT industry for many years. Vietnam IT industry will develop better, if manpower supply and demand problem is solved, both in width and depth. There have been many solutions and approaches from many angles discussed as well as implemented, contributing to solving this difficult issue, one of which is increasing supply, increasing the number of IT students, as well as attracting students to choose IT as a future career.

However, in reality, from the perspective of students as well as parents (who are quite important in student’s choice), a practical guide to describe each type of IT career in detail with easy-to-understand language and terminology for students to consult and learn is almost very limited, if not say, still unavailable. This has greatly influenced their decision to choose a college/university to enroll and choose a career for them in future ahead. Or vice versa, they understand incorrectly about the industry, and in fact there are many student feeling disappointed right in the first or second year because they don't feel inappropriate with IT, not as they thought before.

Understanding these concerns, the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with VNITO Alliance, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC), SaigonTech and Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA), gathered leading experts from businesses and universities together build and publish "IT Career Handbook". This will be the guideline for young people, students to learn about various kinds of IT Careers, what qualifications to be suitable for IT jobs, what need to be studied or improved to be valuable engineers.

QTSC would like to introduce the e-book of the IT Career Handbook, which can be downloaded at this link Tài liệu những điều cần biết về Nghề CNTT (just Vietnamese version). We hope to receive your contribution to promptly share, spread the e-book to students, helping them to get enough information for 2019 enrollment season, also for their career orientation in the future.

IT sector is very huge and wide, with the first version, Editorial Board focused mainly on software industry (due to large proportion). We are looking forward to receiving comments to improve the content of the Handbook, so that the Handbook is really useful for students in the process of choosing colleges and choosing careers.

If you wish to receive hard copy for the purpose to promote this book, please register with the Editorial Board. In addition, QTSC and VNITO Alliance are also calling funding for printing 5000 copies aimed at giving free books to students especially in rural regions, who do not have much access to electronic publications. For more information, please contact Ms. Thuy Nga, email thuynga@qtsc.com.vn, phone (+84) 8888 77 602.

Yours Sincerely,

The Editorial Board of IT Career Handbook
