QTSC’s outstanding events in 2021

2021 will be remembered as a year filled with challenges for Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) and enterprises operating here. The Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 has affected strongly their business and operation. In some points of time, enterprises had to let all employees work from home and arranged a small number of employees to work "three on spot" to ensure safety and information security for domestic and foreign customers. Currently, businesses have gone into stable operation and still comply 5K message.

1. Opening of QTSC Museum at QTSC Building 3

On the morning of March 15, QTSC officially opened QTSC Museum. The museum was built on an area of about 200 m2 of building 3, which was the former headquarters of QTSC from its inception to 2019. Although it has a modest area, the museum contains a lot of efforts of QTSC to express gratitude to leaders, organizations, businesses and individuals who have contributed to the development of QTSC during the past 20 years.

2. QTSC honored with the Golden Prize of the Vietnam National Quality Awards 2019, 2020

On the morning of April 25, QTSC was honored to be awarded the Golden Prize of the Vietnam National Quality Awards 2020 by the Prime Minister at the Hall of the Ministry of Defense, 07 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.

The Vietnam National Quality Awards have been carried out on the basis of 7 criteria of the system of advanced quality awards, under the International Asian-Pacific Quality Awards system, aiming to respect enterprises with best achievements in improving the competitiveness and performance efficiency. For the first time, QTSC participated in the National Quality Awards 2019 and passed the preliminary round in the city with 891/1,000 points and was proposed the National Quality Golden Prize 2019 by the National Council.

3. Establishing Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Consulting and Support Center (DXCenter)

In midweek April 2021, HCMC People’s Committee assigned Departments of Information and Communications and Department of Science and Technology to collaborate with QTSC in establishing Digital Transformation Consulting and Support Center (DXCenter). DXCenter initiative aimed at serving the city's digital transformation process and supporting small & medium-scaled enterprises (SMEs). It will also link various components of the digital economy to support digital adoption and efforts to boost digital transformation.

DXCenter will deploy specific activities such as attracting a team of senior consultants in various fields; connecting the leading technological businesses, especially with reputable IT associations. Moreover, it also coordinates with the media to develop communication topics to increase awareness about digital transformation for individuals and enterprises in HCMC and implements communication activities, events, training courses, and consulting programs. In October 2021, DXCenter received the Certificate of Scientific and Technological Activities issued by HCMC Department of Science and Technology, and officially went into operation.

4. QTSC has always been at the forefront of digital transformation activities to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic

QTSC has cooperated with customers and partners to develop software for healthcare, education, remote working, online seminar, automatic measurement of human body temperature, health declaration, green card check,... as well as implement anti-pandemic solutions in the park, and support community to fight Covid-19 effectively.

Some typical solutions such as: (1) In collaboration with HCMC Red Cross, Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital, HCA to deploy Blood Donation Supply and Demand Management solution (www.giotmauvang.org.vn); (2) In collaboration with the Party Committee of the Grassroots Division of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the City Command, HCA to implement the solution to look up Covid-19 victims (https://benhnhancovid.info/); (3) In collaboration with Yeah1 company and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to provide An Sinh software system aiming to serve the payment of the third security package for more than 6 million people in the city; (4) Together with the City's Department of Industry and Trade to implement the registration software to go to the traditional market, and so on.

5. QTSC organized vaccination against Covid-19 for all local businesses

In 5 days, from June 21-25, the Department of Health of HCMC coordinated with the HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC) and the Preventive Health Center District 12 to deploy phase 1 of Covid-19 vaccination for nearly 11,000 people of 190 businesses, investors and service companies operating in QTSC.

In phase 2 from September 24-27, QTSC coordinated with District 12 Medical Center to organize Covid-19 vaccination for all employees who have not completed the second injection. Phase 2 had a total of 3,629 employees from 168 software and service businesses. And phase 3 was for employees of companies returning to HCMC to work after the quarantine period. Up to now, the number of people who have had 2 injections accounted for about 95% of the total number of employees working here.

6. Deployment of the 115 Emergency Center at Quang Trung Software City

With the task of responding as quickly as possible to the emergency needs of citizens, the 115 Emergency Center officially went into operation on July 28, 2021. The center was located on the 2nd floor of QTSC Building 1, Quang Trung Software City.

To ensure smooth operation of the center, all medical staff and operators must follow the "three on spot" requirements and have negative test results before entering the center.

7. QTSC cooperated with Qualcomm and Bosch Vietnam to organize innovation awards for startups and students

- In 2019, Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge (QVIC) launched for the first time with support of Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology, aimed to incubate innovative startups in promising new technology areas. The program will be organized annually to facilitate, without taking any equity, the development of Vietnam’s emerging technology ecosystem by identifying and nurturing innovative small and medium-sized companies who are designing products in important technology areas like 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, smart cities, wearable devices, and multimedia technologies, and by utilizing Qualcomm Technologies Inc.’s cutting-edge mobile platforms and technologies. The QVIC 2021 Challenge provided 9 promising startup teams with business coaching, engineering resources, and patent filing incentives, with three finalists receiving total cash prizes of $225,000.

- Bosch Vietnam and QTSC cooperated to organize the “Greenovator Hackathon 2021” with the theme “Technologies for a Blue Sky”. The competition encourages Vietnam’s youth and engineering students to design innovative solutions addressing improve outdoor air quality status in Vietnam. On November 18, Bosch Vietnam and QTSC organized the award ceremony for 03 winning teams of the contest with a total prize value of 100 million VND and held an online seminar "Technologies for a Blue Sky" to meet the vision and mission of HCMC in becoming a green - clean - beautiful city.

8. QTSC collaborated with partners to organize a series of online seminars on Digital Transformation in Education

Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, about 1.7 million students in HCMC have had to study online, which is an unprecedented challenge for the education industry in the city in particular and the whole country in general. In order to contribute to solve difficulties of parents and pupils when learning online, HCMC Department of Education and Training in collaboration with QTSC, DXCenter and HCMC Department of Science and Technology organized series of online seminars on Digital Transformation in Education. Currently, 03 topics have been organized and the others will continue to be organized in the coming time.

Following the success of the webinar series, on December 28, QTSC cooperated with the People's Committee of Vinh Long Province to organize the conference on "Digital transformation in education for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta at the branch of HCMC University of Economics in Vinh Long Province, under the support of DXCenter, Education STEM & 4C Skills Co., Ltd. (Steamzone), Vinh Long Department of Education and Training and Vinh Long Province Department of Information and Communications.

9. The People's Committee of Thu Duc City held a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony with QTSC for the period of 2021 - 2025

On the afternoon of December 9, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City held a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony with QTSC for the period of 2021 - 2025 in order to promote the application of science and technology in management and administration activities, serving the socio-economic development goals of Thu Duc City in the period of 2021 - 2025, namely successfully implementing the goal of "Building Thu Duc City to become a smart and creative city; have a good quality of life, rapid and sustainable development”.

10. QTSC cooperated to organize VNITO Tech Series 2021 on the topic “Real estate technology in the digital economy”

The fourth industrial revolution and pandemic forced digital transformation upon all industries everywhere, and Vietnam is no exception. The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted developers of commercial buildings, apartments and residential areas to embrace digital transformation and adopt digital technologies in their projects. Digital transformation opens up new services and business opportunities, and increases the property sector’s ability to participate in domestic and international value chains.

Organized by ITPC, QTSC and VNITO Alliance on December 15, VNITO Tech Series 2021 conference on “Real estate technology in the digital economy,” brought to real estate firms and investors new breakthroughs and new concepts in the sector.
