In the afternoon of 28th March 2019, the Central Propaganda Department delegation led by Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh - Head of Science and Technology Department, Central Propaganda Department had a visit and work at Quang Trung Software City (QTSC).

Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Tran Huu Dung - Chairman of QTSC, Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long - CEO of QTSC and QTSC’s Board of directors expressed gratitude for the presence of delegation.

Reporting to the delegation, Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long summarized QTSC’s activities and achievements in recent years as well as orientation for the 2016-2020 period. In particular, he emphasized that QTSC was proud to be a typical smart city model of Vietnam and affirmed its position in Southeast Asia based on three common foundations:  technology, service and city infrastructure.

From the beginning, QTSC was designed to be a software city which covers 43 ha. To date, QTSC has attracted 160 information technology (IT) companies including 5 ones with over 1,000 people. With 20 office buildings, 8 IT training centers, an underground power grid, a modern wastewater treatment system, a business incubation center, a business support center and other facilities, QTSC has officially become a “software city” for 20,755 people to study and work.

Positively, QTSC always maintains a sustainable growth rate, the following year is better than the previous year in terms of development. It has been becoming a reliable destination for localities as well as other countries to study and seek business cooperation opportunities; greatly contributes to human resources training and supplying for ICT enterprises; successfully incubates many businesses. Moreover, the brand name of Quang Trung Software City is recognized by the international community and supports the process of building national brand for Vietnam ICT industry.

Mr. Long also discussed with the delegation about QTSC’s orientation and goals for the 2016-2020 period as well as recommendations and proposals to remove difficulties and problems during the operation.

Representatives of the delegation appreciated achievements of QTSC in the last 18 years, simultaneously, contributed several opinions for QTSC operation model. The delegation would be willing to propose QTSC’s recommendations to higher authorities so that more appropriate policies would be issued to increase operational efficiency of technology parks in general and QTSC in particular.

For more information, QTSC representative introduced Integrated Operation Center (IOC), which uses Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to manage and monitor the park with the aim to improve service quality and support customers better. At the first stage, the system has integrated 4 modules: environment/wastewateral monitoring system, smart public lighting system, building management system (BMS) and smart traffic management system. Currently, QTSC is deploying a number of new modules to standardize operation model and improve internal management productivity.

Following, the delegation was guided to visit a specialized area of research and development for new products and solutions, named QTSC R&D Labs. As a home for R&D startups, QTSC R&D Labs is established with the goal of creating a public space for research and development, as well as supporting enterprises for research and application, attracting many leading experts on R&D to work in QTSC.

Visiting QTSC R&D Labs and listening to applications and solutions sharings such as distinguishing fake/real wine, application of reducing pests and diseases on mushrooms, early detection of water shortage for plants, etc,.

The delegation continued to visit Agriculture Center of Excellence, which applies new technologies, takes advantage of internet and cloud computing platform to increase productivity in farming operation. This center has constantly been improving and testing new models and solutions such as planting vegetables in containers, hydroponic vegetables growing, sowing robots, etc,.

At the end of the working, the delegation visited QTSC Telecom Center, which provides a wide range of telecom services such as data center infrastructure services, data backup and recovery services, e-government system infrastructure services, information security services, etc,. An addition information, the e-government storage system of Ho Chi Minh City is also located at QTSC Telecom's data center.
